About The Rainfall
The Rainfall are a three-piece rock band from Christchurch, New Zealand, blending the emotional weight of emo, the urgency of pop punk, and the huge melodic hooks of late ’90s and early-2000s rock.
Formed in 2023, the band have quickly carved out a place in Aotearoa’s rock scene through energetic live shows, national radio support and a steady run of releases. Now two albums deep, The Rainfall have taken their sound well beyond their beginnings, writing bigger, heavier and more ambitious songs without losing the vulnerability at the heart of the band.
Their sophomore album Death of My Youth pushes that sound further, moving between explosive guitars, massive choruses and quieter moments that hit just as hard. Lyrically, The Rainfall explore growing older without necessarily having everything figured out: relationships, burnout, nostalgia, bad decisions, self-reflection and the uncomfortable space between who you were and who you're becoming.
There’s an unmistakable thread of the New Zealand alternative scene that raised them running through it all, alongside the emo and pop-punk records that soundtracked their youth. But The Rainfall aren’t interested in simply recreating the past. They’re taking everything they loved about that era and figuring out what it sounds like now.
At its core, The Rainfall is three friends making loud, emotional rock music about getting older, making mistakes and still trying to work it all out.
